A Brisbane strength studio built around coaching, not equipment noise
Taleroni is a Brisbane strength and mobility studio on Level 28 at 80 Ann Street, running one-on-one barbell coaching and small-group mobility classes for people who want to keep training properly for a long time.
It started with a rented rack in a shared room in Woolloongabba
Taleroni began in 2017 with one rack, one set of plates and a coach who was tired of watching people get hurt on equipment nobody had taught them to use. The first members were four friends who wanted to squat without a queue behind them. The whole thing fit in a corner of a shared training space on Stanley Street.
What grew from that corner wasn't a chain or a franchise. It was a single room on Level 28 at 80 Ann Street, four calibrated racks, and a rule that stuck: a coach watches every working set. No equipment in the room exists to fill space. Everything there is used weekly and taught properly.
What hasn't changed
We've never run more than two services at once, and we've never bought equipment for a photo. The floor is a working floor.
Four things we actually believe
These aren't slogans on the wall. They're the reasons we make the coaching decisions we make, and members get held to them.
Coaching is time, not access
A membership card isn't coaching. A coach standing at the rack while you lift is coaching. We charge for the second thing.
Write it down or it didn't happen
Loads, sleep, bodyweight and niggles get logged every session. Progress you can't measure is a feeling, not a fact.
Range you can load is range you keep
Sitting in a stretch for two minutes feels productive and disappears by the drive home. We put weight through the range in the same session.
Stop the set before the set stops you
Bar speed decides the last rep. If the fifth rep slows by more than a third, the set ends there. That rule has kept more people training than any motivational talk.
Three coaches, on the floor most days of the week
Between them they've competed, coached juniors, rehabbed their own shoulders and spent more time on Brisbane gym floors than is healthy to admit.

Marcus Draycott
Founded Taleroni in 2017. Powerlifting coach, competed at Queensland state titles three times, and wrote the original strength programming that still underpins the studio. Handles meet prep and most return-from-injury cases.

Priya Nair
Runs the Functional Mobility Reset classes and the ankle, hip and shoulder screens. Splits the week between the class floor and the strength floor, which is why the positions taught in class are the ones that matter under a bar.

Dana Whitlock
Works with lifters at both ends of the age range. Slower progression past 45, faster under 20, same method on the big three. Runs Saturday morning sessions and the video review corner.
A few things we're proud of
Numbers from real members, measured and verified. Not marketing figures.
Member one: 4 blocks to a 165 kg deadlift
Came in with a 130 kg deadlift and a lower back that flinched at anything past 90 kg. Four blocks later, a clean 165 kg single with no back pain the following day. The change came from setup and bracing work, not from extra maximum attempts.
Member two: hip range that survived a work week
A CBD office worker who couldn't sit cross-legged without knee pain added 41 cm of forward reach in eight weeks of classes, then held it through her regular desk job. The loaded end-range work is the reason it stuck.

Junior program
Sixteen-year-old lifter added 40 kg to her squat in two blocks and stayed pain-free through her school athletics season.

Masters program
Fifty-one-year-old returned to deadlifting after six years off. Four blocks later pulling 140 kg with a stronger grip than he had at forty.

Post-surgery return
Shoulder reconstruction member back pressing overhead in fourteen weeks, working in step with her surgeon's release schedule.
What "success" means in this room
We don't chase member numbers or PRs at any cost. Success here is someone still training in five years with their joints intact and their program still moving forward.
Still training at the five-year mark
A member who trains for five years without a serious injury and still likes the room is our best outcome. 61% of current members have been here longer than three years.
Loads going up, pain going down
On average members add 7.5 kg to their main lifts per block while their reported pain score drops. Those two numbers moving in opposite directions is the point.
People who could coach themselves
Some members leave after two or three years because they no longer need us. That's a win, not a churn number we try to hide.
Two services, both coached
If you're trying to work out where you'd fit, these are the two doors into the studio.
Elite Strength Coaching
Sixty-minute coached sessions on the squat, bench, deadlift and press. One lifter, one coach, a program rewritten from real test results every four weeks.
Functional Mobility Reset
Six-person classes for hips, shoulders and ankles that have gone stiff. Loaded end-range work, a movement reset to finish, and a retest every four weeks to prove something changed.
The best way to judge a coaching room is to stand in it
Book an assessment and we'll show you the floor, the racks and the programs, with no pressure to sign up on the day.
Level 28, 80 Ann Street, Brisbane
In the middle of the CBD, one block from Central Station and a short walk from the Queen Street Mall. If you work in the city, the studio is closer than your car park.
